Maximizer® Corn Sheller

The Maximizer® hand crank corn sheller rapidly removes every kernel of grain from whole corn ears. The crank turns extremely easily and the production rate is ten to fifteen bushels of shelled corn per hour (about ten seconds per corn ear). It works on all normal dry ears, even skinny popcorn ears down to 2" diameter.

The sheller turns on sealed ball bearings for smooth operation and long life. Premium ductile iron—not the common brittle grey cast iron—is used throughout for high strength, and it features a tough, handsome powdercoat finish.

In addition to shelling corn, The Maximizer® sheller also hulls walnuts with relatively fresh hulls (not old petrified hulls!)

  • “Very well built, heavily built. When the sheller is mounted as suggested it works extremely well. I couldn't be more pleased. You're friendly, very helpful, and ship promptly at Pleasant Hill Grain.”

    – Denis C., NC

Spring tension on the hinged pressure plate is easily adjustable with a thumb screw. Since one setting accommodates a wide range of corn ear sizes, adjustment is generally set-and-forget.

The corn sheller's ingenious design automatically ejects empty cobs to the side, so they don't drop into your shelled grain.

The sheller's 10" diameter crank wheel includes a pulley groove to accept a v-belt for powered operation. Powering by means other than the hand crank is at the user's discretion, and all responsibility for safety, including necessary power drive shielding, rests exclusively with the user.

Cleats are provided to clamp the sheller onto a board, or if you prefer you can bolt it on directly, through provided holes. A popular mounting option, as shown in the accompanying photos, is to clamp onto the side of a bottomless box that's set inside a bin or tote box. After a quantity of corn is shelled, the box and sheller can be lifted out, leaving your tote full of grain.

  • “We used the sheller for our homegrown popcorn; the whole process was incredibly easy and delicious.”

    – Kimberly J., GA

The Maximizer hand crank corn sheller is warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for one year. Due to the possible introduction of strains beyond the sheller's design limits, powering the sheller by any means except the provided hand crank voids the warranty. The sheller is designed and warranted for non-commercial use.

  • Great fun shelling A LOT of corn
    By on - Verified Buyer
I have been shelling about a dozen 50 pound bags of corn that my husband and I grew on his father's farm. Even the grandchildren have been helping. It puts some of the corn on the kitchen floor, but it only takes a few minutes to clean them up. I love it! This is so much better than one by one and getting sore fingers. Thanks!

  • 100 years of shelling.

I have a sheller that belonged to my grandfather around 1900. I wanted a new one so I could retire grandfather's sheller. The one I purchased from your store works as well as my original sheller, and is made nearly the same. The ball bearings are a wonderful improvement. Thank you for providing customers with quality products that work as good or better than the originals they replace.

  • Corn sheller

Splendid sheller, I did about six bushels with no issues whatsoever. Very easy to turn, cleaned cobs thoroughly and spit out the empties as it should. Bearing was a tad loose but a few peens with a center punch made it perfect. Definitely recommend.

  • Very Pleased With My Corn Sheller!
    By on - Verified Buyer
I've been looking at antique corn shellers and just could not put out a lot of money for a rusty piece of equipment. The design of the Pleasant Hill Corn Sheller is just like the antique versions, with an adjustable tension that accommodates various size cobs. I was a little apprehensive about using it to shell popping corn, because those cobs are much smaller in diameter. It shelled over 400 ears of popcorn in half an hour! Some of the cobs I had to re-insert and run through twice to get a clean shell; however, this saved me so much time compared to a hand-sheller. What a pleasant autumn activity! I built a box that the sheller sits in, and I drilled holes to bolt the sheller into the box. The sheller comes with both bolt and clamp options. This is a fine piece of equipment that looks like it will last the rest of my life and be passed on to the next generation. I highly recommend it for any variety of dried corn.

  • Works great for shelling corn
    By on - Verified Buyer
Although I bought the sheller to dehusk walnuts, I also have shelled corn with it and it works great for that. It will dehusk walnuts but not nearly as well at it works on corn. Again for its designed purpose on corn it does very well.
