  • Love my Bosch
    By on - Verified Buyer
I broke my other bowl for my Bosch and not realizing that I could take out the drive shaft and order the bowl I threw away the whole thing. So glad that I was able to buy both the bowl and the drive shaft and I am very excited to be using my Bosch again. It fit right in to my base and I am glad that I can use it again!! Thanks Pleasant Hill Grain!!

  • Third time replacing.
    By on - Verified Buyer
I have replaced this piece three times on two different Bosch bowls, and I need to replace it again. If there's something that will break on a Bosch, this is it. I've had the plastic part crack so that it won't hold the bowl in place. Most recently the plastic melted so that the part that meshes with the motor doesn't hold well. I guess that's my fault for using an older wheat grinder attachment. This part couldn't take the heat that the motor produced running the grinder. My biggest pet peeve about this part is that I can't just buy the little plastic part that attaches to the metal shaft. Possibly the plastic is the most expensive part to produce, but it still seems wasteful to chuck the metal shaft. It has never broken on me. I saved them for awhile, but since I can't buy the plastic piece on it's own that seems pointless.

Karen: At Pleasant Hill Grain, we chose years ago not to sell the grinder that Bosch used to make as an attachment for the mixer. The reason is what you've experienced: That particular accessory puts an undue load on the motor and transmission. Our advice is to protect your mixer by grinding grain with a separate grain mill. We would sell the plastic part separately if we could get them that way from Bosch, but we cannot... sorry! From our point of view, the Bosch drive shaft assembly is a five-star part, and we'd suggest viewing the melting of the plastic part as a relatively inexpensive warning signal that the next breakdown could be much more expensive. Back when Bosch designed that grinder, they could have designed it differently (maybe with a bit slower output), so it wouldn't strain the mixer. But they didn't, so we can't recommend using that one accessory (the old Bosch grain mill attachment that fit onto the Universal.)

  • Perfect for my UM3 Mixer bowl
    By on - Verified Buyer
The part worked perfectly and I was back to mixing in about 30 seconds! The base where the bowl sits on was a little rusty, so I used Barkeeper's Friend to scrub that out.

  • Fit like original

I purchased the universal shaft with the whole bowl assembly to replace my old cracked unit on my third-hand Bosch Mixer. It dropped into place, no hitches and I expect to get many more years out of this fine mixer.

  • Needed Replacement
    By on - Verified Buyer
Due to incurring a damaged drive shaft on my Bosch mixer, I searched for a replacement online. I feel fortunate to have found one at Pleasant Hill Grain. It arrived promptly and was exactly what I needed. I have been using it for quite a while, especially for making bread, and it has continued to work just fine.
