Bosch Food Processor Use Tip

Bosch MM3 food processor safety feature, activated Bosch MM3 food processor safety feature, not activated
Image Above: Your Bosch Food Procesor has a safety feature that prevents any painful "processing" of your fingers. It prevents the processor from being mounted onto the mixer's high speed drive unit until the processor's lid is put on and the lid is rotated fully into place. The photo above shows the lid on the bowl, but please note the safety-activating tab indicated by the arrow. In this photo the lid has not yet been rotated fully into place. The image below shows the lockout plunger that needs to be retracted before the unit can be mounted. Image Above: In the photo above, you can see that the lid has been rotated so that the safety-activating tab is inside the handle. The image below shows how this pulls the lockout plunger away from the drive coupler, enabling the Food Processor to be mounted easily on the mixer base.
Image Below: The image below shows the underside of the Food Processor. You can see the lockout plunger coming in from the left edge of the photo and pressing against the drive coupler. When it's like this, the Food Processor cannot be mounted onto the mixer base. Image Below: This photo shows how the lockout plunger is pulled away from the drive coupler when the lid has been rotated fully into place. The space between the plunger and the coupler leaves room for the collar around your mixer's drive part.
